The Alhama City Council resorts to Genome Laboratory to request that it carry out a study and diagnosis of the branch drying problems that have been observed in different unique pines in the municipality.
The affected trees, of the species Pinus halepensis, more commonly known as Aleppo pine, are found in different parks in the town, and in recent years have been showing symptoms related to the drying of shoots and branches, especially those facing the south side of the trees, and occasionally, some, also the west side.
At the request of the Parks and Gardens Department, the affected trees are visited, and staff are instructed to take samples from some of the damaged trees in order to study and diagnose the possible causes of the damage indicated.
After studying and processing the samples received by the laboratory, Genoma Laboratorio issues a report to the City Council, outlining the technical considerations that may be behind the branch drying problems in the town's Aleppo pines.
